Who You Are as a Leader

01

Leadership starts with self-awareness. In this series, participants discover their authentic leadership style, examine their default behaviors and the assumptions that drive them, and develop the foundational skills to turn everyday conversations into moments of real impact. This is where leaders stop managing by instinct and start leading with intention.

  • Authentic leadership.
Understanding the qualities of authentic leadership — presence, curiosity, transparency, integrity, and values-driven initiative. Leaders assess themselves honestly and identify where they want to grow.
  • Self-awareness and default behaviors.
Noticing how you show up under pressure, how your defensive patterns impact others, and developing the agency to choose a different approach.
  • Vision and personal storytelling.
Defining a leadership vision and learning to communicate it in a way that moves people.
  • Coaching basics for leaders.
Understanding the coaching continuum — when to advise, train, mentor, or coach — and how to use each mode intentionally. Leaders learn to grow their people instead of solving their problems.
  • Listening and Presence.
Moving from self-focused listening to full presence with another person. Presence is the foundation of trust.
  • Powerful questioning.
Using open, short, evocative questions that stimulate reflection and insight rather than directing or problem-solving.

How You Lead in Practice

02

Great leaders are measured by who they grow. This learning pathway moves from self-awareness into the relational terrain of leadership — the conversations, structures, and team dynamics that make or break a leader when the stakes are high.

  • Building trust and relationship.
Understanding how trust is built through small everyday interactions (relationship bids), and how to protect it.
  • Empowerment.
Creating the conditions for people to take initiative — autonomy, access to information, psychological safety, and meaningful delegation.
  • Culture and change.
Understanding how culture is made and unmade, how to navigate change as a leader, and how to align team behavior with organizational values.
  • Difficult conversations.
A structured, six-step approach to conversations that leaders typically avoid — with courage, curiosity, and genuine care for the other person.
  • Relationship Agreements.
Co-creating the conditions for any relationship or team to function well — through explicit agreements about how we work together.
  • Giving and receiving feedback.
Structured practice in delivering feedback that supports growth — specific, strengths-based, and delivered with genuine positive regard.
Scale

How to Develop Others at Scale

03

This level shifts focus from personal leadership practice to the leadership of others — building the capacity to mentor, develop, and create cultures where people bring their best.

  • Mentorship and advocacy.
Understanding the difference between coaching, mentoring, and advocacy — and when each serves the person in front of you. How to actively champion your team's growth and visibility.
  • Leading through change.
Understanding what an organization needs during times of change. Providing the leadership that keeps things moving forward, while also demonstrating compassion for the effects on people's day-to-day experience.
  • Development conversations and feedback.
Structuring ongoing developmental dialogue that is separate from performance management. Feedback as evaluation, appreciation, and guidance — delivered with skill and care.
  • Humanized leadership.
The courage to be human — owning mistakes, normalizing failure, and modeling the growth mindset that creates psychological safety for an entire organization.
  • Building a thriving culture.
Identifying the behaviors that define your organization's culture, what to keep, shift, add, and let go of — with the leadership presence to make it happen.
